In April 2004, our practice began using a electronic medical management and medical records system for all our patient encounter documentation. Now, years later, we are well on our way to operating a paperless office. When you visit us, you will notice that our entire medical staff, nurses and providers, carries wireless tablet computers throughout the office. With these computers, our staff has immediate access to all the important elements of your medical record, from office visits and lab results to phone calls and prescribed medications. The computers are also used to document information from your current visit, such as vital signs, past medical history, current diagnoses and care plans.

Although you will occasionally see us use paper, the vast majority of our work is done via these computers. This has made a major impact on our office operations. Your health information is easily accessible throughout the office on all of our computers. Consequently, our staff can concentrate on addressing patient care needs, and spend less time searching lost paper charts. We are confident this system enables us to provide you with better medical care and great customer service.

Further enhancing our technological edge, we receive your lab results from Quest and Lab Corp. Previously, it took days for these results to appear on patient charts after being reviewed by us. Now, your results are available within 24 hours on your chart and can be promptly reviewed by your provider. Future enhancements will provide hospital-to-medical group interface connectivity enabling us to get lab, x-ray and a variety of other transcribed hospital reports electronically.

We are utilizing the internet to help us serve you better. You'll find a variety of information and services available on our website. You now have access to some of your health information from a secure page on our website. Currently, new and established patients can request appointments. As an established as a patient, you have the ability to update your patient information, view lab results and comments from your provider, request prescription refills, or report a non-urgent medical problem to members of our staff. Finally, we have an ever-growing library of clinical information available for your review.

We have gone to great lengths to protect your health information on our network. A firewall and up-to-date anti-virus software are carefully monitored. Our wireless networks are encrypted to prevent unauthorized access to the network. In short, we are serious about maintaining the security of our network.
